grace chooses favorites |
by Derek Richards
we were songs
Langston Hughes daydreams
word blues
forgiveness
sometimes
a fuck
is more like a fairytale
sometimes jazz
finds me
reaching for a knife
my hollow grace
is simply
you
licking your lips
we were songs
painkillers and poets
you would shave
your legs
while i discussed salvation.
my hollow grace
is simply
you
swaying your hips
we were
heaven, hell and afternoon
you should wish me the best
with a train schedule
and a kiss
Derek Richards performed as both a musician and poet around the Boston area for sixteen years. Now he is tired and has begun submitting his work. He has a dog, a cat, and two ferrets. All of them enjoy his poetry. Soon he will be incredibly famous.
