Dreaming With Monk |
by Trevor Garcia
In Monk's dream, I wonder
if he went walking
down sundry streets,
slicked back suit
and tapping, tooting
fire engine
That note sounded wrong, Monk,
but then, you would argue
there were no wrong notes
on your fingertips
or the keys
or the piano for that matter,
so you'd step on
and the road would part
and you'd go about your merry
car horn
Monk, that note was wrong,
though you would shoot me
for saying so
if you were not having
this miserably wonderful dream
in the first place.
Trevor Garcia is in the process of earning a BA in English Literature. As of yet, he remains surgically attached to his laptop. When not living inside his computer screen, he lives with his family in Fullerton, California.
